PAWS of Coronado Launches FURever Fund to Advance Long-Term Sustainability of Animal Welfare Programs
Coronado, CA — PAWS of Coronado today announced the launch of the PAWS of Coronado FURever Fund, a strategic reserve designed to provide enduring, sustainable funding for animal rescue and welfare initiatives.
Established in partnership with the Coronado Community Foundation, the FURever Fund offers a structured and tax-efficient vehicle for philanthropic investment. Donors including individuals, family offices, trusts, and foundations may contribute a range of assets, including appreciated securities, real estate, cash, and planned gifts, as well as qualified charitable distributions, including required minimum distributions (RMDs). The fund also supports sophisticated giving strategies, including legacy planning, intergenerational giving, and portfolio-aligned philanthropy.
The fund is designed to generate long-term support for PAWS of Coronado’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many animals as possible, while preserving and growing principal through disciplined stewardship.
With a focus on fiduciary responsibility and long-term impact, PAWS of Coronado is committed to managing the fund with prudence and transparency. Distributions will be strategically deployed to support the organization’s highest-priority programs, while maintaining the integrity and longevity of the fund and honoring donor intent.
“This fund ensures we can continue rescuing and caring for animals for generations to come,” said Dave Evans, Executive Committee Board Member and CFO of PAWS of Coronado.
The initiative was spearheaded by Jackie Williams, Executive Director of PAWS of Coronado, in collaboration with Michelle Gilmore, CEO of the Coronado Community Foundation (CCF).
“PAWS of Coronado is the first nonprofit to establish this type of partnership with CCF, creating a distinctive local model for mission-driven, long-term philanthropy,” shares Michelle Gilmore. “We are proud to offer this collective effort with PAWS. Dedicated funds such as these empower donors to have a lasting impact on local nonprofits through the investment vehicles managed at the Community Foundation.”
Distributions from the FURever Fund will support key priorities, including expanded veterinary services, mobile medical care, behavioral support programs, and long-term organizational capacity.
“The FURever Fund is a cornerstone of our PAWS 2030 Vision to be a leading model in animal welfare services and advocacy,” said Gregory Curtin, PhD, President of the Board of Directors. “Guided by our belief that ‘It’s All for the Animals,’ this fund enables us to extend our impact—now and for generations to come.”
