2016 Coronado Canine Mayor Bailey

Gracie Edit

Vice Mayor Gracie

The votes are in, congratulations to the new Canine Mayor of Coronado, BAILEY! The 2016 Canine Mayoral Election was a very competitive race, boiling down to the last day of voting. Bailey raised 9,463 votes to earn her position as mayor for the next two years. Bailey will be joined by her Vice Mayor, Chief, who earned a very impressive 4,881 votes. The runners up include Gracie (3,448 Votes), Byron (369 votes), Chloe (197 votes) and Eevee(130 votes.) The election raised $18,488 dollars for PAWS of Coronado.

Bailey began her tenure at the inauguration held at the Coronado Animal Care Facility on Wednesday, May 4th. PAWS is grateful to Bailey and the entire Canine Council for their tireless efforts during their campaigns!

Correction (5/9/16) – Gracie is Vice Mayor:
After reviewing the vote count, PAWS realized that the number of votes for two candidates had been transposed for the final tally.  As result, the Vice Mayor has changed. Gracie, originally announced as third, is the true second place. Gracie had a total of 4,959 votes and Chief, originally announced as Vice Mayor,  had a total of 3,427. Therefore, Gracie is our true vice mayor!  In addition, the vote total was higher than originally counted, at 18,545 votes!

PAWS of Coronado apologizes for the misunderstanding, please be sure to congratulate Gracie when you see her around town. We are excited to announced our all female Mayor and Vice Mayor Team, Bailey and Gracie. You go, girls!
